Sophomore John White makes his first career start at quarterback for Southern Miss

If you're wondering why Southern Miss changed quarterbacks, it wasn't injury. Sophomore John White made his first career start Thursday, replacing senior Landry Lyddy. Both Lyddy and Ethan Hampton are healthy, according to the Availability Report.

Lyddy started five games and totaled 1,326 yards

  • Practices were closed to media for the first time this season

Anderson said the move was "more of a feel offensively". "We were running the ball really effectively but in the throw game, some of the decision making just wasn't where it needed to be," he said.

White played in four games in 2024 and threw one pass in 2025.

“I think John White is going to be a two-year starter for us, I really do.”

Those consist of personal cats (all foster fails, some due to medical reasons where they’d be euthanized at most rescues) fosters, and cats acclimated to the property due to not being able…”
