- ➤ Hattiesburg police are searching for a missing teenage girl reported May 27—authorities urge anyone with information to come forward. WDAM
- ➤ Attorneys for Richard Gerald Jordan, Mississippi’s oldest death row inmate, filed an emergency petition on May 21 for a stay of his execution scheduled for June 25 — they argue that his mental condition was not properly evaluated and hope the U.S. Supreme Court will review his case at its May 29 conference. - ➤ Southern Miss hosts the NCAA baseball Hattiesburg Regional at Pete Taylor Park starting May 30, with the first game set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ featuring Southern Miss and Columbia.
