  • Hattiesburg police are searching for a missing teenage girl reported May 27—authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.  WDAM
  • Attorneys for Richard Gerald Jordan, Mississippi’s oldest death row inmate, filed an emergency petition on May 21 for a stay of his execution scheduled for June 25 — they argue that his mental condition was not properly evaluated and hope the U.S. Supreme Court will review his case at its May 29 conference.  Hattiesburg American
  • Hattiesburg police are searching for 17-year-old Estrella Gregorio (5 feet tall, 120 pounds, brown eyes and black hair) who was last seen on Saturday at around 4 p.m. (in the 800 block of River Street).  WDAM

  • Mississippi has no law setting a minimum age for leaving kids home alone, so parents must judge if their child is ready based on maturity, emergency skills, and comfort—experts suggest waiting until 12 or 13.   • Southern Miss hosts the NCAA baseball Hattiesburg Regional at Pete Taylor Park starting May 30, with the first game set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ featuring Southern Miss and Columbia.   • Ole Miss golfer Michael La Sasso won the individual national championship at Omni La Costa's North Course with a score of 277 for 11 under par — beating Texas A&M’s Phichaksn Maichon by two strokes.
