- ➤ The Ursid meteor shower will peak Sunday night, giving viewers in Hattiesburg a chance to see up to 10 meteors per hour if they move to dark sky spots like Bienville National Forest. - ➤ STARBASE Mississippi is offering free STEAM instruction for local 5th graders this spring semester at the 172nd Airlift Wing of the Mississippi Air National Guard. The program partners with local schools to provide hands-on learning and plans to expand to older students in the future. WLBT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ HII Ingalls Shipbuilding has been selected by the U.S. Navy to design and build a small surface combatant for the Golden Fleet based on its proven NSC design. The ship will begin construction once the contract is awarded and is expected to be in the water by 2028. WDAM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new study by the American Heart Association linked uterine fibroids to a possible increase in heart disease risk in women under 40, and Dr. David Sullivan of South Central Regional Medical Center said more research is needed.
