Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 24th of November.
Good morning, Hattiesburg.
🏘️ Community
True Light Missionary Baptist Church, which has a 122-year legacy, broke ground on a new 16,000 square foot building on Hutchinson Avenue across from Hattiesburg High on Sunday.
The church partnered with Priority One Bank and received additional funds from its congregation and expects the building to be complete in about 6 to 9 months.
A WalletHub study shows Mississippi ranked 48th in charitable giving and volunteer service based on factors like donation rates and volunteer hours — the ranking also reflects a low number of local charities per capita — and local groups are urging more donor support to help families in need. Local organizations such as food networks and shelters need community assistance to boost service and generosity in the state.

22 to win the MAIS 4A-DI state championship—its first title since 2011. Coach David Duggan led the Raiders with strong plays from quarterback Josef Walker and running back Aaric Beasley.
