- ➤ A uniform worn by Ensign Jesse L. Brown, the nation’s first African American Naval aviator, is on permanent display at Hattiesburg’s African American Military History Museum—donated by James Sinclair, it honors his Korean War service and celebrated his birthday on Saturday. Museum director Latoya Norman said the exhibit shows his proud legacy. WDAM

- ➤ On Monday, October 13, post offices will be closed and banks will not operate due to Columbus Day while FedEx and UPS will remain open (US Postal Service confirmed the closures). - ➤ At Ole Miss, the Rebels stayed undefeated with a close 24 to 21 win over Washington State during their homecoming game—after a slow start they scored key touchdowns and field goals—and will face Georgia next week in a road game. WLBT
- ➤ On Oct. 11, Ole Miss beat Washington State 24—21 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium as quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, filling in for injured Austin Simmons, made his fourth start.
