  • House Speaker Jason White said he wanted to restore the ballot initiative process while steering voters away from school choice proposals. He formed special committees to study the initiative and school choice expansion before the legislative session starts in January—he noted that constitutional limits on public funds for private schools must remain.  Mississippi Today

SPORTS NEWS

  • SEC teams battled hard in Week 5 as Ole Miss beat LSU 24-19 in Oxford — Trinidad Chambliss threw for 300 yards, and Alabama edged Georgia 24-21 in Athens.   • On Saturday, Sept 27th, Ole Miss beat LSU 24-19 with a strong performance by quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, moving the Rebels to a 5-0 record and a No. 4 ranking that recalled 2014.
