  • A recent report shows that hair care prices have increased 75% since 2005 and now take 1.43% of a typical household income in Mississippi. Many residents face economic hardships due to rising costs—especially in areas with high poverty rates.  WJTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • State wildlife officials urged Mississippi deer hunters to harvest one additional deer this season to help control the near-record population and slow the spread of CWD—details include an early archery season starting Sept. 12–14 and a choice of blaze orange or pink for safety.   • Vitalant and Powers Fire & Rescue hosted a blood drive on Saturday at the Powers Fire Station on Highway 184 to boost the local blood supply — about 20 donors participated and O-Positive and O-Negative blood were needed.  WDAM
