- ➤ Prospect Gallery in Downtown Hattiesburg will host a joint exhibition by local artist Ed McGowin and artist William Dunlap starting Friday, August 22 and running until September 27 — a reception is scheduled on September 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. WDAM

- ➤ Mississippi’s July unemployment rate held steady at 4.0% from May through July as state economists describe a no-hire, no-fire labor market—rising real wages and lower inflation have encouraged more people to join the workforce while employers remain cautious amid economic uncertainty. - ➤ Crews are advancing into the final stage of the $66 million road project on I-59 after years of work that have caused congestion and several accidents, including fatalities. MDOT said the ramp from I-59 northbound to U.S. 49 north is closed and will reopen next week—drivers should plan for alternate routes as another ramp from U.S. 49 north to I-59 north will soon close. - ➤ On Aug. 19, a federal judge ruled Mississippi’s map for choosing state Supreme Court judges dilutes Black votes and breaks federal law.
