- ➤ Mississippi Power Foundation is donating $350,000 to United Way—helping customers pay energy bills amid extreme summer temperatures. The donation marks the third year of support through the Project SHARE program across its 23-county service territory including Hattiesburg. WLBT

- ➤ Hundreds of freshmen and transfer students arrived at USM on August 12 to start the fall semester as dorms filled with over 3,300 students. USM President Joe Paul said the school celebrated its highest-ever retention rate and welcomed the new Golden Eagles — setting the stage for a promising term. WJTV
