- ➤ A pedestrian was hit and killed near Kearney Park Road & Sheppard Street in Flora just before 9:45 p.m. on August 6, and police said the driver stayed at the scene and was released after an investigation found the accident to be unintentional. WJTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A University of Mississippi study of nearly 1,600 college students shows that about 60% of those who bet on sports placed wagers on legal online sportsbooks even though mobile betting is still illegal in Mississippi—many students use VPNs to access these sites while a small portion face moderate gambling issues. The study also noted that some students rely on family and friends for bets and that popular wagers include NFL and college football, adding to growing concerns over young adult gambling habits.
