CRIME NEWS

  • In summer 2011, Jones County deputies found Henry Charles Adcock shot in the back of his head at his home after Waynesboro police called for a welfare check during a burglary at his pawn shop — investigators believe the robbers were after keys and witnesses saw a black female and a vehicle near his property.  WDAM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative is offering free check-ups and screenings for National Health Center Week at clinics in Beaumont, Brooklyn, Hattiesburg, Lumberton, New Augusta, Seminary, Sumrall and Picayune—patients can get checks for blood pressure, vision, cholesterol, HIV, breast and prostate—and additional screenings are available on request.  WDAM
  • Today Perry County Health Department opens a new facility at 15 Pumping Station Road in Runnelstown — the mailing address is Petal. The facility offers the same services as the old location, which closed during the move.  WDAM
