- ➤ Four Hattiesburg girls held lemonade stands in the Canebrake community for two Sundays to raise money for families affected by flash flooding at Camp Mystic and beyond. They raised over $400 with $350 collected Sunday, July 20—funds that will support a neighbor’s family and other affected victims. WDAM
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A man working under a vehicle on Summerland Road in Hebron was trapped when the jack failed and firefighters used a battery powered rescue spreader—he was transported first to South Central Regional Medical Center on July 19 and then to Forrest General Hospital where he was stabilized. WJTV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Taylor Garretson from Greene County won the Miss Hospitality 2025 pageant — she is the first returning contestant to win the crown and is eager to represent Mississippi while continuing her studies in journalism and dance at the University of Southern Mississippi. WDAM
- ➤ A new exhibition at the Historic Eureka School celebrates African American hair with art by local artists and one from Philadelphia and displays that share its cultural and political story. The exhibit lasts until August 30 — a hair show is scheduled for August 29 to mark its conclusion. WDAM
