ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A train derailed in Petal on July 5th—emergency crews are inspecting the site for any hazards. WDAM
- ➤ At around 1 a.m. Saturday, a fire at the Piedmont Park Complex damaged several apartment units, destroyed the top floor of a building, and displaced families—witnesses reported a firework may have started the blaze, but the Hattiesburg Fire Department has not confirmed the cause. WDAM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Hattiesburg Police are investigating an overnight shooting in North Hattiesburg — a man sustained a gunshot wound to the side of his head after 12:30 a.m. on Broadacres Drive and remains in stable condition at a local hospital with no suspect identified. WDAM

- ➤ The National Guard and Army Reserve conducted their annual training at Camp Shelby — a routine exercise that tests readiness — officials said. WDAM
