- ➤ A new food pantry in South Forrest County is holding its first food distribution Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 278 John Morris Road. The pantry will offer food boxes with staples — like beans, rice, and canned goods — and will hold monthly distributions to help families in need. WDAM

- ➤ Rose Upthagrove, 38, originally from Nebraska, is accused of beating an elderly woman who died from head injuries on May 31 after an incident on May 29 + her bond was set at $100,000 on Wednesday in Laurel Municipal Court. WDAM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Hattiesburg will hold its annual Juneteenth Parade on Saturday, June 14 at 9:00 a.m. along Katie Avenue, and the parade will travel about two miles to end at Vernon Dahmer Park where a festival continues—road closures will be in effect on a rolling basis to help keep everyone safe. - ➤ Perry Central and Purvis high schools honored their Top of Class 2025 students—recognizing academic excellence in a program sponsored by Jones College. At Perry Central, valedictorian Riley Tingle will study biomedical science at Southern Mississippi and salutatorian Allie Windham will study pre-dentistry at Jones College; at Purvis, valedictorian Cody Foster will study accounting and kinesiology at Pearl River Community College and salutatorian Austyn Owens will study finance at the University of Mississippi—marking a proud achievement for both schools.
