  • On Tuesday, HPD responded to a late-night shooting at an apartment complex on Country Club Road after shots struck a vehicle with one occupant who sustained non-life-threatening injuries—officers identified a suspect and the investigation is ongoing.  WDAM

CULTURE NEWS

  • FestivalSouth continues today at the University of Southern Mississippi with an evening of classical chamber music (Classics by Candlelight featuring pianist Theresa Sanchez) at the Mannoni Performing Arts Center. Organizers said fans will enjoy a rare stage experience (performers move closer to the audience) during the candlelit show.  WDAM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new report shows that a family of four in Mississippi can live comfortably on an income of about $186,600 — the lowest among seven states where families earning under $200K can manage. The study also notes that other states now require more money, with places like Vermont needing much higher incomes while some see a drop in costs.  WJTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jones College sponsored the Top of Class 2025 awards for Mize Attendance Center and Sacred Heart Catholic School. At Mize, valedictorian Faith Anglin will study biomedical engineering at Mississippi State while salutatorian Trenton Amason plans to study engineering at Jones College, and at Sacred Heart, valedictorian Xavier Parada and salutatorian Brayden Nicholson will pursue mechanical engineering at Mississippi State — all recognized for their leadership in school clubs.  WDAM

  • Gray Media, WDAM & the Saints signed a five-year deal to extend their broadcast partnership through the 2029 NFL season. The new pact will begin on August 10 with preseason games that offer local viewers exclusive Saints coverage.  WDAM
