  • Southern Miss baseball is hosting an NCAA regional at Pete Taylor Park this weekend, which is expected to boost local spending to nearly $11M. Hotels and restaurants are already reporting sold-out bookings as they prepare for an influx of fans.  WDAM

  • No. 2 Pearl River baseball dominated Iowa Central 14-4 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark on Thursday and now qualifies for today’s NJCAA Division II National Championship game at 7 p.m. with earlier matchups set to decide their opponent.  WDAM
  • Southern Miss baseball lost 7-4 to Little Rock in its Hattiesburg Regional opener — head coach Christian Ostrander said the team lost its late lead and is working to improve performance for upcoming contests.  Hattiesburg American
  • On Friday, Mississippi teams began NCAA Regionals with Southern Miss taking the field in Hattiesburg at noon, Mississippi State playing in Starkville, and Ole Miss competing at the Lincoln Regional in Nebraska; games scheduled for Saturday included both losers’ and winners’ matchups.  WDAM
