- ➤ An abandoned hotel on Highway 49 will become a resource center for homeless people and those needing support. Founded by Reona Burnett, the three-year project will add showers, legal aid, and a restaurant—dine-in with a cause—and calls for local volunteers, sponsors, and donations. SM2 Media
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities denied bond for 20-year-old Amardius Mack—charged with three counts of attempted capital murder on a law enforcement officer, two counts of auto burglary, and one count of weapon on school property—after officers responded to a call on May 14 at around 9:10 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Pine Street near Timothy Lane when Mack exchanged gunfire with them, and he was treated at a local hospital before being held at Forrest County Jail while the MBI investigation continues.
