  • Mississippi State University added new degree programs when the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning approved several bachelor's and master's options at a board meeting on May 15. The new programs include a Construction Technology and Weather and Environmental Science bachelor's degree that offer unique skills, a Business Administration in Entrepreneurship, and master's degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Construction Management — options not available at other Mississippi institutions.  Hattiesburg American

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal courts ordered Mississippi to create three new Black-majority legislative districts, which will force special elections in 14 legislative districts later this year. The decision follows a long history of redistricting that reduced Black voting power—bringing representation closer to the state’s demographics.  Mississippi Today

  • Stacker compiled a list of the highest rated Southern restaurants in Hattiesburg using Yelp data from May 2, which includes only eateries with at least twenty reviews in a ten kilometer radius.
