- ➤ Hub City Humane Society has set up a fund to help pet owners cover surrender fees ranging from $50 to $300 — an initiative inspired by an abandoned puppy in Lamar County that aims to reduce local animal overpopulation. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the shelter. WDAM
- ➤ The National Stamp Out Hunger food drive on May 10 collected over 20,000 pounds of food for four local pantries in the Pine Belt—donations that are being sorted at Edwards Street Fellowship Center to aid families, with some set aside to help kids during summer break.
