ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A tornado flipped Zitaevez Gatlin's trailer at Wash Mobile Home Park on Wednesday, injuring 22 people in Lincoln County + nearly clearing all trailers as neighbors and local volunteers helped supply shelter and cleaning materials.  WLBT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mississippi Comic Con returns to Jackson for its 12th edition from Friday through Sunday, June 26 to 28, featuring celebrity guests including Tom Kenny, Kel Mitchell, and Drake Bell—who will perform at Brewsky's in Hattiesburg on June 29—with panels, cosplay contests, and gaming events.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mississippi public schools moved up 10 spots to rank 29th in a national report by World Population Review. The state still has the nation's lowest teacher pay, and a permanent $2,000 raise will begin next school year.  Hattiesburg American

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lamar County Road Department will begin collecting debris in Purvis starting Friday and Saturday — an 85-man crew will work overtime for several weekends as residents separate vegetative, construction, and white goods waste for safety.  WDAM

  • William Carey hosted the opening round of the NAIA Softball National Championship at Joseph & Nancy Fail Field on Monday. The Lady Crusaders, seeded first, played against top teams in a tournament that showcased local talent in Hattiesburg.  SuperTalk Mississippi Media
