- ➤ Two Hattiesburg High seniors received the first ever ‘Pathway to Progress’ scholarships on Tuesday from Marcus ‘DJ Kuhjo’ Carr’s Good Vibe Foundation—each student received $1,000 for their education as Aniyah Jones plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Robert Bourne, Jr. will attend Alcorn State University. - ➤ A memorial ceremony will honor Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate at the Hattiesburg Housing Authority on Friday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m.—the officers died on May 9, 2015 during a traffic stop. Hattiesburg police officials, Mayor Toby Barker, and family members will speak during the event as representatives from the Pine Belt Foundation announce the recipients of the Benjamin J. Deen & Liquori Tate Memorial Scholarship Fund. WJTV
