- ➤ Hattiesburg named longtime WCU baseball coach Bobby Halford as grand marshal for the Parade of Champions set for Monday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m. downtown — the event will celebrate student achievements in academics and athletics. WDAM
- ➤ Farmer Dennis Dahmer of Big Creole Farm on Monroe Road is offering locals a chance to rent a 40-yard row for $20 or two rows for $30 to grow fresh produce amid rising grocery prices. Participants bring their own seeds and may also select low-priced produce grown on site. WDAM

- ➤ A Hattiesburg veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Michael Gilpin, is featured among 10 Vietnam War veterans in a documentary that follows their November visit to Vietnam. The film, narrated by Gary Sinise, will be released next Spring. WDAM

- ➤ Forrest General Hospital is offering free trigger locks today in a new safety program — doctors and law enforcement stress safe storage and responsible use to prevent accidental firearm injuries. Hospital officials will also develop a gun safety class for residents. WDAM
