- ➤ Hattiesburg Zoo is launching its 75th anniversary celebration this Saturday+ the year-long event will include wildlife exhibits and family activities to mark the milestone. WDAM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Hattiesburg Zoo will kick off its 75th anniversary on Saturday, April 26 with events that include a timeline display and a new flamingo habitat (detailed activities such as animal birthday treats will also mark the day). The zoo will host monthly Second Saturday Celebrations with different themes (these events will continue into early next year) as part of the year-long festivities. WDAM
- ➤ The Hattiesburg Zoo will host Brunch with Bertie on May 10, May 11 on Mother's Day, May 17 and May 18, 2025—offering a full brunch with bottomless mimosas and views of its giraffes. Tickets cost $65 plus tax—these include zoo admission, a train ride to Ladha's Overlook, and a special enrichment with giraffe residents. WJTV

- ➤ Tuesday afternoon, city officials cut the ribbon on the Hall Avenue West Overpass, which now lets drivers go from Walnut St to West Pine St without stopping for trains–a safety improvement that has been long awaited. The bridge solves a problem that has slowed traffic and even delayed emergency vehicles for decades. WDAM
- ➤ Today the Hall Avenue West Overpass opened to traffic at 6:00 a.m. in Hattiesburg, completing the full Hall Avenue corridor with two new overpasses over rail lines. Hattiesburg leaders said the project—funded by federal grants and state dollars—will improve traffic flow and reduce delays at key intersections. WJTV
