  • The Ford Foundation held its inaugural Rabbit Run 5k/1-Mile Run in Hattiesburg to support single parents and children in single-parent households. The event—supported by Pearl River Community College—raised funds that will pay for one semester of tuition for two students and drew about 130 participants.  WDAM
  • The 77th Hattiesburg Lion’s Club Community Easter Egg Hunt took place Saturday at Bay Springs School for the first time, renewing an eight-decade tradition just outside Hattiesburg. About 1,200 plastic eggs were hidden—some with special prizes—as children got photos with the Easter Bunny in a safe, historic setting.  WDAM
  • An Easter egg hunt held in downtown Hattiesburg on Saturday brought families together ahead of Easter—local groups organized ice cream, games, a scavenger hunt, and more to raise autism awareness. Multiple organizations worked together to create a fun, inclusive day for the community.  WDAM

  • Northern snakeheads are an invasive fish in Mississippi that can breathe air and move on land+ wildlife officials urge residents to kill or freeze them when seen and to make sure they are not the native bowfin.  Hattiesburg American

  • Gov. Tate Reeves proclaimed April 21 to 25 as Work Zone Awareness Week in Mississippi to urge drivers to slow down and pay attention at road work zones. The Mississippi Department of Transportation said drivers must avoid distractions — follow all signs and keep extra distance — to help protect road workers.  WJTV

  • Ben Higdon tied the school record with three home runs — the Golden Eagles hit six overall as they rallied late to beat Georgia State 15-9 at Pete Taylor Park Saturday. Carson Paetow added two home runs with five RBI, and USM will host Tulane on Tuesday at 6 p.m.  WDAM
