- ➤ Laurel police arrested four teens on Saturday morning after a pawn shop burglary led to a vehicle pursuit that ended when the suspects crashed into a tree and officers recovered several stolen firearms. WDAM

- ➤ The City of Hattiesburg will host its Student Summer Job Fair tomorrow, April 17th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Ben McNair Center—giving high schoolers aged 16 and older a chance to meet local businesses and city departments hiring summer workers. WDAM

- ➤ The Lyrid meteor shower is visible from April 15 to 30 and will peak on April 21—23, giving Hattiesburg residents a chance to see 10—15 meteors per hour though up to 100 may appear if skies are clear. Hattiesburg American

- ➤ Tuesday, the Department of Justice dismissed its civil lawsuit against the Mississippi Senate over claims that Kristie Metcalfe was paid less than her white colleagues. The state argued that Metcalfe was exempt from federal civil rights laws (citing a litigation freeze implemented by a former administration) and Attorney General Lynn Fitch's office said it was pleased with the dismissal.
