- ➤ Jamie White and her husband started Allie's Way in February 2020 after their 2-year-old daughter Allie died on Sept. 29th from a distracted driving crash—aiming to educate people and prevent similar tragedies. They travel across the country during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month using laws, education, and advocacy to spread their message. WDAM
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On April 12, just before 6:45 p.m., a vehicle struck a tree on the 100 block of Wadsworth Road in Jones County—firefighters rescued three minors from the crash as two were entrapped and one was ejected, and all were taken to hospitals with serious to critical injuries. WJTV
- ➤ Community members in Stringer recovered Dash (the dog whose owner, Carolyn Sue Welborn, died in an EF-2 tornado on April 6th) from debris when they found him under a damaged car, and the deadly storm also damaged more than 20 homes. WDAM

- ➤ Tommy and James Duff, Mississippi's only billionaires, said they are planning to expand development with a focus on the Gulf Coast, noting its strong potential for growth. They built Southern Tire Mart — the nation's largest truck tire dealer — and will build on that success with projects at the Port of Gulfport and the Buc-ee's development. WDAM

- ➤ State lawmakers did not pass the 2025 budget because disagreements turned to childish bickering when House leaders refused to work on a weekend—forcing them to return in a special session this summer to adopt a spending plan before the new fiscal year begins on July 1. Mississippi Today
- ➤ The Mississippi Department of Transportation will soon start repaving a 20-mile section of I-59 in Jones County (from Rocky Creek to the Jasper County line) and crews are already clearing debris.
