- ➤ A Catholic school from Michigan is spending its spring break in south Mississippi to rebuild the home of local resident Marla Webb—over 60 students are repairing the roof, interior, exterior, and backyard and will finish by week’s end before returning to school. WLBT
- ➤ Hattiesburg’s spring concert series Live at 5 is drawing families to Town Square Park on Friday evenings until May 10 with live music+ food trucks and booths by local businesses. - ➤ During Tuesday’s council meeting, Hattiesburg approved another year of a tuition assistance program with Pearl River Community College—providing a $30,000 pool to help residents cover the remaining cost of tuition after other aid. WDAM

- ➤ Mississippi will ban lab-grown meat under House Bill 1006 when it takes effect July 1, making it illegal to manufacture, sell or distribute food made from cultured animal cells. Lawmakers raised concerns over food transparency and local farming to justify the ban. WLBT
- ➤ On April 8, the Hattiesburg City Council voted to name the Hall Avenue overpasses after State Representative Percy W. Watson and U.S. Senator Roger F. Wicker in honor of their service—Watson’s bridge opened in November 2024 while the Wicker bridge is set to open this spring as part of more than $75 million in investment to ease congestion and improve emergency access in East Hattiesburg.
