- ➤ About 1,500 runners and walkers took part in the 13th annual Hattiesburg Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Saturday morning, starting and finishing at the Saenger Theater on Forrest Street + the event raised funds for eight non-profits and has distributed nearly $700,000 over its history. WDAM

- ➤ Jones County sheriffs responded to gunshots at Windsor Court Homes in the Hoy community on Friday evening—no injuries were reported as deputies secured the area and began investigating the incident. WDAM

- ➤ Camp Shelby dedicated two new helipads in honor of Guard pilots Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derek Abbott and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bryan Zemek, who died in a training accident on Feb. 23, 2024 near Booneville. Mississippi House Resolution No. 86 (adopted on March 17) authorized the tribute so everyone at the post remembers their sacrifice. WDAM
- ➤ House Bill 602 will create the Mississippi Seafood Labeling Task Force to ensure seafood vendors provide clear origin information as some restaurants falsely label imported seafood as local. The bill heads to the governor’s desk amid concerns that mislabeling may drive up prices—task force members will include representatives from state agencies and the governor. WDAM
