ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in the Gulf Coast region fell slightly with Monday's regular fuel averaging $3.59 per gallon compared to $3.60 the week before, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Analysts predict prices may rise 20 to 30 cents per gallon as supply concerns persist.  Hattiesburg American

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, MAIN hosted a workshop at USM (University of Southern Mississippi) that taught 450 local participants how to use AI responsibly in teaching and learning. USM is one of 15 educational partnerships working to offer free AI training statewide.  WDAM
  • Seminary High School students will surprise award-winning art teacher Ashlye Shoemake on Thursday morning in the gym. The assembly will feature a band performance and cheers that honor her dedication to helping students overcome doubts about their artistic abilities.  WDAM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hattiesburg reopened the newly rebuilt Timberton complex — a $2.5 million project with six softball fields and a concession area — and launched its first girls’ softball league since the 2017 tornado; the league featuring 6U, 8U and 10U teams will run over the next four weeks.  WDAM
  • The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame announced finalists for college basketball awards—the Howell Trophy for men and the Gillom Trophy for women.
