CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The District Attorney’s Office filed capital murder charges against Drexler Johnson for a triple homicide on New Year’s Day—he now faces three counts of capital murder for killing Lester Campbell, Rhonda Denson, and Dirk Jason Thornton along with one count for possessing a weapon by a felon, and a preliminary hearing will be scheduled later. - ➤ The Hattiesburg Zoo was awarded accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums—known as AZA—after a thorough review that included a December 2024 on-site inspection and a Monday hearing at the mid-year conference. It is now the only accredited wildlife facility in Mississippi and will maintain high standards of animal care and education. WJTV
