- ➤ Mississippi universities will launch new college completion programs following the end of the Complete 2 Compete initiative in 2025. The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board approved the change in January to help adults earn a bachelor’s degree by designing tailored requirements and recruiting eligible students. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two medical cannabis bills passed the Legislature and are headed to the governor’s desk — one removes the concentrate cap and extends card validity for patients while the other lets doctors petition for new patient access. WDAM
- ➤ Lamar County Fire Services is holding Overland Search and Rescue training at the Lamar County Training Center today at 6 p.m. with sessions on March 26 at 6 p.m. and March 28 at 9 a.m., where trained firefighters from several counties will lead a woodland tracking exercise. WDAM
- ➤ Lampton residents have signed a petition demanding answers to rising water bills and failing sewer systems. The Water Association said it is fixing meter issues + installing 23 new pumps and tanks as repairs continue. WDAM

- ➤ Dr. Dan Edney, Mississippi state health officer since 2022 with over 30 years practicing in Vicksburg, is a top contender to lead the CDC; if confirmed, the state will soon look for a new officer to address high infant and maternal mortality. WLBT
