- ➤ West Harrison’s top discus thrower Sean Fairley signed with Southern Miss so he can stay close to home while competing, and his family can attend his meets. The two-time state champion broke the Mississippi record with a 196.1-foot throw earlier this month. WDAM
- ➤ Over 350 children played at Tatum Park for the Hattiesburg Diamond Youth Baseball season opener on March 21 (they were divided into age groups from 4 to 12). The season will resume with two matchups on Monday, March 23. WDAM
- ➤ Ole Miss baseball won its first SEC series by defeating Kentucky 12-9 at Swayze Field on Saturday, March 21. The win was sparked by Daniel Pacella’s go-ahead grand slam and a two-RBI hit by Will Furniss, and coach Mike Bianco said pitcher Cade Townsend’s shoulder injury will be re-evaluated soon.
