- ➤ McElhaney and Sons reached 100 years in business on Saturday, Mar. 14, and were honored by Councilman Jeffery George with a proclamation during a celebration in Hattiesburg. The company, founded in 1926 and now led by John McElhaney Jr, held a raffle with prizes up to $1,000. WDAM

- ➤ USM hosted the 2nd annual Screamin’ Eagles Guitar Festival on Saturday, March 14, featuring guitar classes, concerts and workshops for local and visiting talent. Festival director Nick Ciraldo said the event was meant to connect students and professionals in a shared celebration of music. WDAM

- ➤ Educators at the Sixth Street Museum District held the first Science Saturday at Smith yesterday, engaging kids in grades two through five in a hands-on seminar on healthy eating at Smith Drugs on Mobile Street and Historic Eureka School; future sessions are planned for June and September. WDAM
