  • Sumrall’s ‘Breaking Out of Hunger’ concert has rallied local support for March of the Mayors — donations in canned goods are coming in at several drop-off sites and contributions will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 27.  WDAM
  • Forrest Health’s Spirit Girls will hold the 8th Prom-A-Palooza at 28th Place on Sunday, Mar. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event offers local high school girls 500 donated dresses rentable for $12 + they must bring one chaperone due to limited space.  WDAM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Hattiesburg chapter of Jackson State University National Alumni hosted its 35th Annual Black History Talent Fashion Exhibit today, recognizing local school kids for their classroom achievements and skills. The event raised $23,000 to support youth, including Zachary Pope, who hopes to study engineering in college + build a bright future.  WDAM

  • A wildfire in Perry County spread to an estimated 2,160 acres early Sunday (USFS estimates) and is 50% contained as firefighters saved over a dozen structures while a red flag warning remains in effect.  WDAM
