🏛️ Government
South George Street Bridge in Petal will get a new culvert-style design for cars and pedestrians by early summer — a project planned to link sidewalks between Petal and Hattiesburg in the future.
Mayor Tony Ducker said the work will cost about $800,000 using local tax funds.
The rebuilt Petal bridge now opens a gateway for future projects after restoration work finished yesterday (Feb.
15). Officials said the project could lead to more local improvements near Petal.
