- ➤ A Brooklyn resident’s home suffered damage when a tree fell inside Monday, leaving her kitchen exposed to cold weather; emergency crews helped cut away the tree while Boyte (disabled and uninsured) awaits further local aid as temperatures drop this weekend. WDAM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ William Carey University’s College of Health Sciences hosted its annual career fair, connecting health science students with 29 organizations (from Mississippi and neighboring states). The event gave aspiring nurses, physical therapists and administrators a chance to explore career opportunities on campus. WDAM
- ➤ Petal High teachers Matthew Godshaw and Sara Drue Zimmer earned the 2026 Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grants at a Friday luncheon (in downtown Gulfport) for projects that boost student learning through forensic studies and air quality monitoring. WDAM

- ➤ Sacred Heart Catholic High School has hired Drew Dewease as its new head football coach after Ed Smith's retirement (he has been part of the program since 2013 and coached baseball and basketball), and he will now lead the Crusaders on the field. WDAM
