- ➤ Mississippi Power employees volunteered on MLK Day, Monday, Jan. 19, to help improve Edwards Street and honor Dr. King's legacy. WDAM

- ➤ Community members were recognized and students awarded scholarships at the 20th annual MLK ecumenical event in Laurel yesterday. The event celebrated Dr. King's legacy and honored local contributions, bringing together community leaders & students. WDAM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Shady Grove VFD seeks junior firefighters to join its team & will share application details soon. WDAM
- ➤ Governor Tate Reeves announced Monday that Mississippi has opted into the Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which will start in tax year 2027 & help families support eligible students through tax-deductible donations. WLBT
- ➤ Jones County sheriff’s department announced that K-9 Baldur received a donated vest to protect him during high-risk duties — including suspect tracking, search and rescue missions, and bomb detection. The donation came from Vested Interest in K-9’s, Inc. to help keep him safe on duty. WDAM
