- ➤ Hidden Springs RV Resort was damaged by last weekend's heavy rain when the Bogue Chitto River rose to 26.8 feet, forcing rescues of four people and three dogs and causing loss of three cabins and a pool — the park remains open as cleanup continues. WDAM
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Tommy Duff, co-founder of Duff Capital Investors, spoke to the Rotary Club of Hattiesburg Tuesday afternoon about business lessons and a possible gubernatorial run (he has not set a deadline). WDAM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ PRCC's Forrest County campus (the local site) is growing this year with planned program and facility upgrades. Community leaders say the turnout for career training will improve as enrollment increases. WDAM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Aloka the Peace Dog had successful surgery on Monday, Jan. 12 to repair his old leg injury and will rejoin the Buddhist monks — now in South Carolina — in two to three days, beginning with short 10-minute walks several times daily. - ➤ Mississippi fans can vote for the top high school boys basketball player for the 2025-26 season via an online poll. The Clarion Ledger report allows one vote per device and the poll will close at noon Saturday. Hattiesburg American
- ➤ The William Carey University women's basketball team is undefeated at 14-0 and boasts a 53-game regular-season win streak under first-year head coach Jessica Garriga. The team continues its impressive run as the new season unfolds. WDAM
